Is the website slower since we migrated?

Post by hybrid »

Is anyone finding the website slower since we migrated to the new data centre?

I have one user who is having a lot of trouble since we moved. It's definitely slower for me at work, but the page loads within 10 secs.

At home the page loads within a couple of seconds, so there is definitely a difference there.
If you are finding it slow since the move, can you provide:

- Your ISP
- Your operating system (windows, mac, ipad, android etc)
- Your browser

Trying to see if there is any pattern before I contact them.

I find I often get a web message of no response so I need to refresh again to get the page up. So I would say it is slow to respond to a request.
I will someday think of something clever to say.

Same same a few nights ago.
Also sometimes i loose all text, avatars and pictures "if i recall correctly" in posts. Refreshing, going back or clicking on something else doesnt work, and have to leave the site and come back to be back to normal. I do have the now not supported XP and using Chrome.

Yes those few days ago you were all talking about was probably when we migrated. The site was down for a lot longer than they anticipated. I scheduled it in for 3am our time, and they told me 2 hours to do it, so I figured most wouldn't even notice. However, I think it was late morning when it finally came back up.

Jacko, it's still in Canada where it always has been.

So I'm only talking about a change since we moved on the 14-15th May.

Today at work the website is loading much faster - as fast as at home.
I got a new notebook today. Not sure if it's related or not. I doubt it is.

Hybrid,
I'm wondering if it is with TPG NBN?
Is anyone else with TPG? And if so, is this site muuuuuuuch slower.

Guy,
strangely enough, it's fast again at work for me. Not sure why.
The issue won't be with TPG themselves.. the issue will be somewhere along the track between them and the website.

The problem is where - but if you do that second traceroute to the old server address I sent you, that might show us where the difference is. Then we can contact the host, TPG, or both to see if something can be done.

Nice one.. there must have been a temporary network issue somewhere and it was just by coincidence that it happened at the same time as we moved.

Slow as a wet week over here in the "technology capital of the world" ....... :poke:

However so is the newspapers I read & Facebook. So I would guess the string that carries the information, to the house, is wet from the rain the other day ......
