Parts Tumbler

Post by Caspian_64 »

Anyone know someone in the Perth Metro area that can tumble parts.
For the few parts that I have it's not worth investing in one, apparently they are easy enough to make.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, you will fit in here really well...

Why would you want all your parts round though- weird.

i would have thought a vibratory tumbler would be what you are after, not a lapidary one..

What sort of parts are you trying to clean?

Take it to an engine machine shop and they will hot tank them (depending on what it is). Danny @ Performance Mods should be able to sort you out. Some small parts (ie. carb size stuff) clean up real well in an ultrasonic cleaner.

Not for cleaning. Tumbling is used to obtain a finish very close to a new metal stamping or casting.

Sorry, missed that in the question. Not sure where you would look in Perth for that.

ozbilt is spot on.
I was looking at doing a number of cast aluminum parts, some I'm ready for and others not.
I've just installed the gas tank so I was looking at putting on the gas filler neck, it's seen better days so was looking to try and get it back up to scratch. Some suggest having it hot tin dipped (anyone know someone that can do that?), then slightly bead blaster followed by a tumble.

It is made of ternplate, basically lead coated steel. If you "tin" it by heating with a soft oxy-acet or propane flame, youcan move the coating around to cover any marks. No blast just tumble.
