Importing Wheels and maybe tyres

Post by boofhead »

I would like to get some experience / advice in Importing Rims from the US.

I am planning on importing a set of Magnum 500's for the car and want to know if there is any advantage in getting the tyres fitted in the US. It is a game of transport costs + GST verses local tyre purchase. Also, how much more would the weight add to the transport process.

Thanks in advance.
I will someday think of something clever to say.

Unless there is a specific tyre you want from the US i wouldnt bother. Rims usually come boxed and easy handling, a tyre would double the weight and freight i would think. I have only imported rims so i am not talking from experience, but i did look into it a little.

Sometimes there are good deals for Magnums & tyre packages, CJ Pony Parts for instance but I haven't priced shipping to see if it's worthwhile.
