Rim load rating

Post by Glenn »

Does anyone know the load rating of BA XR8 rims, I want to put a set of 4 on a boat trailer that has a gross weight of 2100kg. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks Glenn.

Don't know the definitive answer but given the BA XR8 has a curb weight of almost 1.8 tonnes I would expect they would easily manage the 2.1 you want.

Throw in 4 adults at 80kg each into your BA falcon and you would have 2.1 tonnes. Add some luggage and throw a kiddy in the middle of the rear seat... You get my point.

Should be fine.

I never used that method to calculate it but logically you must be right, thanks.

Actually I should have said it has a curb weight of UP TO 1.8 tonnes... The specs list it specifically as 1.62 to 1.74 tonnes.

Load rating should be stamped on the inside of the rim. Got one to check?

I'm out of XR8 rims :help:

I I'd have a wheel and looked at the inside there are various stampings no say kg, the only one I thought could be relevant said 253 by memory, that didn't sound enough though.

Just did a quick google search. Load rating is supposedly 93;

93 = 650kg

Total of all 4 - 2600kg
